Michael Carruth is an Irish sporting legend, having won an Olympic gold medal for Ireland at 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Michael was Ireland's first Olympic gold medal since Ronnie Delaney in 1956 and Ireland's first gold medal in boxing, Kate Taylor has since added a second. Michael had a decent professional career going 18-3 and falling just short of a world title. Michael is now the head coach of his life long club, Drimnagh Boxing Club. Today I chat to Michael about his journey to Olympic gold, the after math and how it changed his life,the state of amateur boxing today and more.
